Galapagos penguins can live up to 15-20 years. However, they have a high rate of mortality due to several troubles such as the climate change, volcanic activity, predations from other animals and humans, pollution and starvation.
On land, these penguins are victims of snakes, owls, and hawks. In water, they are part of the diet of sea lions, fur seals, and some shark species that roam the area.
Galapagos Islands are an archipelago of volcanic islands located in the Pacific Ocean west of Ecuador.
